At Kish Rent A Car, we strive to provide flexible and transparent refund policies for our customers. This Refund Policy outlines the terms and conditions under which refunds are issued for booking cancellations, modifications, and other circumstances. Please read this policy carefully before making a reservation.
We offer a generous free cancellation period to provide you with flexibility. If you cancel your booking more than 48 hours before your scheduled pickup time, you will receive a full refund of all payments made, including the rental fee, insurance upgrades, and any add-ons. The refund will be processed to your original payment method within 5-7 business days. No cancellation fees or administrative charges will be applied during this period.
Cancellations made between 24 and 48 hours before your scheduled pickup time will incur a 25% cancellation fee. You will receive a refund of 75% of the total amount paid. For example, if your booking total was 100 OMR, you will receive a refund of 75 OMR, and 25 OMR will be retained as a cancellation fee. This fee covers administrative costs and the opportunity cost of holding the vehicle for your reservation.
Cancellations made within 24 hours of your scheduled pickup time are non-refundable. The full amount paid will be retained. This policy reflects the fact that last-minute cancellations prevent us from renting the vehicle to other customers, resulting in lost revenue. We encourage you to cancel as early as possible if your plans change.
If you fail to pick up the vehicle at the scheduled time without prior cancellation (no-show), no refund will be issued. The full amount paid will be forfeited. We consider a no-show to occur when the vehicle has not been picked up within 2 hours of the scheduled pickup time and we have not received any communication from you. To avoid no-show charges, please contact us immediately if you are running late or need to cancel.
The easiest way to cancel your booking is through your account dashboard on our website. Simply log in to your account, navigate to "My Bookings," find the booking you wish to cancel, and click the "Cancel Booking" button. You will receive an immediate confirmation of your cancellation via email, along with information about your refund amount and processing timeline.
You may also cancel your booking by contacting us directly via phone at +968 71 000 270 or email at [email protected]. Please provide your booking reference number and the name under which the reservation was made. We will process your cancellation and send you a confirmation email within 2 hours during business hours (8:00 AM - 8:00 PM daily) or by the next business day for after-hours requests.
Always wait for official cancellation confirmation before assuming your booking has been cancelled. Your cancellation is only complete when you receive a confirmation email from us with a cancellation reference number. If you do not receive confirmation within the timeframes specified above, please contact us immediately to verify the status of your cancellation.
Once your cancellation is confirmed, we will initiate the refund process immediately. Refunds are processed to your original payment method within 5-7 business days. Please note that depending on your bank or credit card company, it may take an additional 3-5 business days for the refund to appear in your account. If you do not see the refund within 14 business days of your cancellation confirmation, please contact us with your cancellation reference number.
Refunds are issued to the original payment method used for the booking. If you paid by credit card, the refund will be credited to the same credit card. If you paid by debit card, the refund will be credited to the same debit card. We cannot issue refunds to different cards or accounts for security reasons. If your original payment card has expired or been closed, the refund will typically be credited to your new card by your bank, but you should contact your bank to confirm their procedures.
In cases where a partial refund is applicable (such as cancellations within 24-48 hours or early returns), the refund amount will be clearly stated in your cancellation confirmation email. The refund will be calculated based on the applicable cancellation fee or unused rental days, minus any administrative fees as specified in our Terms of Service.
If you need to change your rental dates, you can modify your booking through your account dashboard or by contacting us. Date changes must be made at least 24 hours before your scheduled pickup time. If the new dates result in a lower total cost, you will receive a refund for the difference. If the new dates result in a higher cost, you will be charged the additional amount. All date changes are subject to vehicle availability.
If you choose to downgrade to a less expensive vehicle category, you will receive a refund for the price difference, minus a 15% administrative fee. For example, if you downgrade from a luxury vehicle (85 OMR/day) to a standard sedan (25 OMR/day) for a 5-day rental, the price difference is 300 OMR. After deducting the 15% administrative fee (45 OMR), you would receive a refund of 255 OMR. Downgrades are subject to vehicle availability and must be requested at least 24 hours before pickup.
If you remove insurance upgrades or add-ons (such as GPS, child seats, or additional drivers) from your booking at least 24 hours before pickup, you will receive a full refund for those items. Removals made within 24 hours of pickup or after the rental has started are not eligible for refunds.
If you need to return the vehicle before your scheduled return date, you must notify us at least 24 hours in advance to be eligible for a refund. Early returns without advance notice are not eligible for refunds. When you provide advance notice, we can attempt to re-rent the vehicle to another customer, which allows us to offer you a partial refund.
For early returns with advance notice, you will receive a refund for unused rental days, minus a 15% administrative fee. For example, if you rented a vehicle for 7 days at 30 OMR per day (210 OMR total) but return it after 4 days, you have 3 unused days worth 90 OMR. After deducting the 15% administrative fee (13.50 OMR), you would receive a refund of 76.50 OMR. Insurance and add-on fees for unused days are also refunded proportionally.
All rentals are subject to a minimum 1-day rental period. If you return the vehicle on the same day as pickup, you will be charged for 1 full day and no refund will be issued. This policy applies regardless of the number of hours the vehicle was in your possession.
Oman experiences occasional severe weather events, including tropical cyclones, flooding, and wadi closures. We understand that these conditions may make travel unsafe and affect your rental plans.
If the Oman Meteorology Department issues a tropical cyclone warning (Category 1 or higher) for your pickup location during your scheduled rental period, you are entitled to a full refund with no cancellation fees. You may also choose to reschedule your booking to a future date at no additional cost. To claim this refund, you must cancel at least 6 hours before your scheduled pickup time and provide the official weather warning reference number.
If government authorities issue a travel advisory due to flooding or wadi closures that affect your ability to reach the pickup location or travel safely, you may cancel for a full refund or reschedule without penalty. You must provide proof of the advisory (screenshot from official government website or news source) and cancel within 12 hours of the advisory being issued.
For refund purposes, "severe weather" is defined as conditions that result in an official government advisory recommending against non-essential travel. General rain, wind, or heat does not qualify for weather-related refunds unless accompanied by an official advisory. We monitor weather conditions closely and will proactively contact customers if severe weather is forecast during their rental period.
In the rare event that your reserved vehicle is not available at pickup time due to circumstances within our control (such as maintenance issues, previous rental extensions, or booking errors), we are committed to making things right.
If we cannot provide your reserved vehicle or a comparable substitute, you will receive an immediate full refund of all payments made, including any prepaid insurance, add-ons, and booking fees. Refunds for vehicle unavailability are processed within 24 hours to your original payment method.
If your exact vehicle is unavailable but we have a vehicle in the next higher category available, we will upgrade you at no additional cost. For example, if you booked an Economy car and we only have Compact or Standard vehicles available, you will receive the upgrade free of charge. All other terms of your original booking remain the same.
In addition to a full refund or free upgrade, we will provide you with a 20% discount voucher valid for your next rental within 12 months. If vehicle unavailability causes you to incur additional transportation costs (taxi, ride-share, etc.), we will reimburse up to 50 OMR upon presentation of receipts. We understand that vehicle unavailability can disrupt your plans, and we take full responsibility for ensuring you have reliable transportation.
If you are a member of our Kish Rewards loyalty program, cancellations and refunds may affect your points balance and tier status. Understanding how refunds impact your loyalty benefits helps you make informed decisions.
If you earned loyalty points from a booking that is subsequently cancelled and refunded, those points will be deducted from your account. For partial refunds (75% refund for 24-48 hour cancellations), you will retain a proportional amount of points. For example, if you earned 100 points and receive a 75% refund, 75 points will be deducted and you will keep 25 points.
Your loyalty tier status (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum) is based on your total spending over the past 12 months. If a refund causes your 12-month spending to fall below your current tier threshold, your tier status will be adjusted accordingly. However, tier downgrades due to refunds will not take effect until your next tier review date (typically the anniversary of your account creation).
If you used loyalty points or rewards to pay for all or part of your booking, those points will be returned to your account upon cancellation and refund. For example, if you redeemed 500 points for a 50 OMR discount and then cancelled your booking, the 500 points will be credited back to your account. Redeemed rewards are non-refundable in cash but will always be returned as points.
When you rent a vehicle, we place a temporary hold on your credit card for the insurance deductible amount (200 OMR for Basic Insurance, 100 OMR for Standard, or 0 OMR for Premium). This section explains when and how this security deposit is refunded.
Upon vehicle return, our staff will conduct a thorough inspection to check for any new damage. This inspection typically takes 15-30 minutes. If no damage is found, the security deposit hold will be released immediately. However, please note that it may take 3-7 business days for the hold to be removed from your credit card statement, depending on your bank's processing time.
In some cases, damage may not be immediately visible during the return inspection (such as undercarriage damage, mechanical issues, or interior stains). We reserve the right to conduct a more detailed inspection within 48 hours of return. If damage is discovered during this extended inspection, we will notify you via email and phone with photos and a repair estimate. You will have 48 hours to dispute the damage claim before charges are processed.
If damage is found and the repair cost is less than your insurance deductible, you will only be charged for the actual repair cost. For example, if you have Basic Insurance (200 OMR deductible) and the damage costs 75 OMR to repair, you will be charged 75 OMR and the remaining 125 OMR hold will be released. If the repair cost exceeds your deductible, you will be charged the full deductible amount and we will cover the remaining repair costs.
If you believe you are being incorrectly charged for damage, you have the right to dispute the charge within 14 days. Provide any evidence you have (photos from pickup, photos from return, witness statements) to [email protected]. We will review your dispute and respond within 7 business days. If we determine the charge was incorrect, we will issue a full refund of the disputed amount within 5 business days.
In the event of a medical emergency that prevents you from picking up or continuing your rental, we may waive cancellation fees or provide a full refund on a case-by-case basis. You must provide documentation of the medical emergency, such as a doctor's note or hospital admission records. Please contact us as soon as possible to discuss your situation.
If your flight to Oman is cancelled or significantly delayed, resulting in your inability to pick up the vehicle, we may offer a full refund or allow you to reschedule without penalty. You must provide proof of flight cancellation or delay (such as airline confirmation) and contact us as soon as you become aware of the issue. This courtesy is extended to help customers affected by circumstances beyond their control.
If we are unable to provide the vehicle you booked due to unforeseen circumstances (such as accident damage or mechanical failure), we will offer you a comparable or upgraded vehicle at no additional cost. If no suitable alternative is available, you will receive a full refund of all payments made. We will make every effort to contact you in advance if we anticipate any issues with your reservation.
In the event of force majeure circumstances (such as natural disasters, war, civil unrest, government restrictions, or pandemic-related travel bans) that prevent you from picking up or continuing your rental, we will work with you to find a fair solution. This may include full refunds, rescheduling without penalty, or credit toward future rentals. Each situation will be evaluated individually based on the specific circumstances.
Certain charges are non-refundable under all circumstances. These include traffic fines and violations incurred during your rental period, damage charges for vehicle damage not covered by insurance, cleaning fees for excessively dirty vehicles or smoking violations, fuel charges for vehicles returned without a full tank, late return fees for vehicles returned after the scheduled return time, and charges for lost keys, documents, or equipment. These charges are incurred as a result of your use of the vehicle and cannot be refunded even if you cancel or return the vehicle early.

Provide your booking reference number and a detailed explanation of your concern. We will investigate the matter and respond within 3 business days. If we determine that an error was made, we will issue the appropriate refund immediately. If we determine that the original refund decision was correct, we will provide you with a detailed explanation.
We are committed to fair and transparent refund practices. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate the matter to our management team for further review. We will make every reasonable effort to resolve disputes amicably and fairly.
We reserve the right to modify this Refund Policy at any time. Changes will be posted on our website with an updated "Last Updated" date. Material changes will be communicated to customers via email. Your booking is subject to the Refund Policy in effect at the time of booking. Changes to the policy will not affect existing reservations unless required by law.
